A budding preacher wanted to learn to preach. He was told that a guest speaker was in town speaking at a church. This speaker was know to be able to grab is audience's attention with his opening sentence. The preacher went to hear him.
The speaker began, "Last night I was in the arms of a woman, and she is not my wife." The congregation gasped in horror.
"She is my mother," the speaker continued, "and tonight I will speak on the love of a mother which is a reflection of the love of God."
The preacher was impressed and decided to do the same the next Sunday.
He stood at the pulpit and began, "Last night I was in the arms of a woman, and she is not my wife." The congregation was shocked and a commotion broke out. The preacher lost his train of thought, and stammered, "And oh dear, I've forgotten who she is!"
